I have come across some people who are autistic and I can understand how it can give us some kind of evolutionary advantage.
- An independence of seeing the world and avoiding herd mentality
- Keen eye for detail that might be missed
Of course it is a spectrum and people with varying levels and different types, just as there are people with different levels of general intelligence, but I believe it can be a huge advantage for society as a whole.
Diversity of thought can be extremely valuable.
So I have learnt to understand and see it as a gift, and also understand that when speaking to different types of people it’s important to communicate in different ways.
