How to workout your face muscles to improve your look

Just like working out your body, you can also workout your face to improve it and make it more attractive.

This can have a big impact on your life because people subconsciously read your face to learn more about you.

Working out your face can make you:

  1. Appear more friendly and approachable and emphathetic –
  2. Appear more attractive
  3. Reduce the impact of ageing

You don’t need to do plastic surgery to improve your look. You can do it all completely naturally.

It can give you a stronger jaw
Improve your cheeks
Reduce crow feets around your eyes and mouth.

Just like going to the gym, you just need to work out for 15-20 minutes per day to see results. The great news is that you can do it all at home.

Does it really help change your face?

Some scientists dispute that using muscles can change the shape of your face. Some researchers say there’s not enough evidence to determine if facial exercises are effective, but they are wrong. It can 100% change your face. Just think about it, if you go to the gym it changes your muscles and how your body looks, if you work out your face it can impact how your face looks.

Our Face Has Become Weak

Our faces were designed to chew heavy food such as meat. Nowadays, most of the food we eat is soft and mushy, sugary and we don’t properly use our jaw muscles.

Because of this, peoples jaws have become weak, which is actually damaging to our breathing, and jaw, resulting in too many teeth. We need to develop these muscles.

Did you know that doing a face workout can also make you feel great?

When you smile, your brain releases tiny molecules called neuropeptides to help fight off stress. Then other neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and endorphins come into play too. The endorphins act as a mild pain reliever, whereas the serotonin is an antidepressant.

The effect is much more than working out your body. There is a special connection between how you use your face and how you feel.

Just try it. Smile for 20 seconds, and notice how you feel.

Seriously, really try it now!

That’s why it’s great for you to smile more!

Couples Start to look similar

Did you notice that often couples look more similar to each other as they get older?

It could be that similar people attract, but also that they mimick each others facial expressions and become to look more and more alike.

Side effects

Some scientists do claim that if you do too much, it might damage your face and cause more wrinkles. So you do need to be careful and aware of how you do it.

Stone cold face

Face yoga can also improve the impact of a stone cold face. Some people have less expressions than others, and changing your face to make it more friendly can totally change your social life and your life.

Now lets look at the evidence

There are many examples on Youtube and online of people who have completely changed their face shape.

Facial exercises may reduce some signs of aging, according to a new study from dermatologists at the Feinberg School of Medicine. Researchers found that a group of middle-aged women looked about three years younger after they followed a 20-week facial exercise program. This is the first scientific study to test the premise of facial exercise improving appearance.

Murad Alam, vice chair and professor of dermatology, worked with Gary Sikorski of Happy Face Yoga, who trained the study participants in his 30-minute facial exercise routine. Participants — a group of women 40 to 65 years old —learned and performed 32 distinct exercises, each one for about a minute. They were instructed to repeat the exercises at first every day and then every other day for five months.

Over the course of the 20 weeks, the 16 participants who remained in the study were enthusiastic about their results, finding improvements in almost all of their facial features. An independent panel of dermatologists backed up their personal evaluations, rating their “after” photographs as, on average, three years younger than their “before” photographs.

“Now there is some evidence that facial exercises may improve facial appearance and reduce some visible signs of aging,” says Alam. “The exercises enlarge and strengthen the facial muscles, so the face becomes firmer and more toned and shaped like a younger face.”

Here are a few of the Happy Face Yoga exercises:

The Cheek Lifter: Open your mouth to form an “O,” and fold your upper lip over your teeth. Smile to lift cheek muscles up, then put your fingers on the top part of the cheek before releasing the cheek muscles to lower them. Lift the cheeks back up, and repeat by lowering and lifting 10 times.

Happy Cheeks Sculpting: Smile without showing your teeth. Purse your lips together, and then smile — forcing the cheek muscles up. Place your fingers on the corners of the mouth and slide them up to the top of the cheeks, holding for 20 seconds.

The Eyebrow Lifter: Press three fingertips under each eyebrow to force your eyes open. Smile while trying to push your eyebrows down against your fingers. Close your eyes and roll your eyeballs up to the top of your head, holding for 20 seconds.

1. Jawline Exercises

  • Jaw Clenching: Clench your jaw for 10 seconds and release. Repeat 10 times. This helps to strengthen the muscles.
  • Chin Lifts: Tilt your head back to look at the ceiling and move your lower lip over your upper lip as far as possible. Hold for 10 seconds and release. Repeat 10-15 times.
  • Neck Curl Up: Similar to abdominal curls but for your neck. Lie on your back with your tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth. Bring your chin to your chest and then lower your head back down. Perform 2 sets of 10 reps.

2. Cheek Exercises

  • Air-Pushing Exercise: Puff your cheeks and push the air from one cheek to the other, similar to swishing mouthwash. This tones and stretches the muscles.
  • Fish Face: Suck your cheeks and lips in to make a “fish face” and try to smile. Hold for 5 seconds and repeat about 10 times. This exercise works the cheek muscles.

3. Eye Area Exercises

  • Eyebrow Raises: Sit with your eyes open, raise your eyebrows as high as possible, hold for 5 seconds, and relax. Repeat 10-15 times. This can help tighten the forehead and eye area.
  • Eye Squeeze: Close your eyes very tightly, hold for 10 seconds, and release. Repeat 10 times to work the muscles around your eyes.

4. Mouth and Lip Exercises

  • Lip Pulls: Keep your head straight, lift your lower lip as much as possible by pushing your lower jaw out. You should feel a stretch in your chin muscles and jawline. Hold for 10-15 seconds and repeat.
  • O Shaped Mouth: Open your mouth to form an “O” shape. Hold this position for 20 seconds. Relax and repeat. This helps to tighten the area around your mouth and cheeks.

5. General Tips

  • Consistency is Key: Like any other muscle group, facial muscles require regular exercise to see improvements.
  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water to maintain skin elasticity and flush out toxins.
  • Healthy Diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats can support skin health and reduce bloating, further defining your jawline.
  • Skincare: Proper skincare can enhance the appearance of your skin, making your facial structure appear more defined.
  • Massage: Regular facial massages can improve blood circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, and reduce puffiness, further accentuating your jawline and facial features.

Incorporating these exercises into your daily routine may help improve the tone and appearance of your face over time. However, results can vary based on individual anatomy and genetics. For significant changes or specific concerns, consulting with a professional in dermatology or cosmetic surgery may be advisable.

Facial exercises, also known as “face yoga,” aim to improve facial appearance, increase muscle tone, and reduce signs of aging. Here are some exercises that might help make your face more attractive by toning facial muscles, improving skin appearance, and promoting a youthful look:

  1. Cheek Lifts: Smile as wide as you can while keeping your lips closed and then raise your cheeks towards your eyes. You should feel a slight burn in your upper cheeks. Hold for 5-8 seconds and repeat 5-10 times.
  2. Eyebrow Lifts: Place your fingertips just above each of your eyebrows, then gently push your skin down while trying to raise your eyebrows. This resistance exercise can help firm forehead muscles. Repeat 10 times.
  3. Jawline Toner: Tilt your head back until you’re looking at the ceiling. Push your lower jaw forward until you feel a stretch under the chin. Hold the position for 10-15 seconds, then relax. Repeat 5-10 times.
  4. Neck Curl Up: Lie on your back with your tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth. Bring your chin to your chest and then lift your head off the ground about 2 inches. It’s not a full sit-up. Do 2 sets of 10 repetitions.
  5. Fish Face: Suck your cheeks and lips inwards just like a fish. Hold this position for 5-10 seconds and try to smile while holding the pose. Repeat 5-10 times. This can tone your cheeks and lips.
  6. Lion’s Breath: Inhale through the nose, then exhale forcefully while opening your mouth wide, sticking your tongue out downwards, and making a sound from deep within your throat. This can help relax facial muscles and improve circulation.
  7. Forehead Smoother: Place both hands on your forehead facing inwards and spread all of the fingers out between the eyebrows and hairline. Gently sweep the fingers outwards across the forehead, applying light pressure to tighten the skin. Repeat 10 times.
  8. Eye Squeeze: Close your eyes very tightly and hold the position for 10 seconds. Relax, then repeat 5 times. This can help reduce crow’s feet and promote a more youthful appearance around the eyes.

While these exercises may contribute to a more toned and youthful appearance, it’s important to maintain realistic expectations. Results can vary widely and may take time to become noticeable. Additionally, a healthy lifestyle, proper skin care, hydration, and sun protection play crucial roles in maintaining facial attractiveness.

Improving Your Attractiveness

Improving attractiveness through exercises can focus on both the face and the body. While the concept of attractiveness is subjective and varies widely among individuals and cultures, certain general principles can apply. Here are some exercises that may help enhance features considered traditionally attractive in men, focusing first on facial exercises and then on body workouts.

Facial Exercises

Facial exercises, also known as face yoga, aim to tone and strengthen facial muscles, potentially leading to a more defined facial structure.

  1. Jawline Exercises: Clench your jaw for a few seconds, release, and repeat. This can help define the jawline.
  2. Eyebrow Raises: Lift your eyebrows as high as possible, hold for a few seconds, and release. Repeat to help tone the forehead.
  3. Cheek Puffs: Take a deep breath and hold the air in your cheeks. Pass the air from one cheek to the other, then release. This can help strengthen cheek muscles.
  4. Neck Stretches: Tilt your head back and push your tongue against the roof of your mouth. This can help reduce the appearance of a double chin.
  5. Smiling: Smiling widely and holding the pose helps engage a wide range of facial muscles, promoting tone and strength.

Body Exercises

A well-proportioned body is often associated with attractiveness. Focusing on overall fitness and muscle tone can improve posture, confidence, and physical appearance.

  1. Cardiovascular Exercises: Running, cycling, swimming, or any aerobic activity that increases heart rate can help reduce body fat, enhancing muscle definition.
  2. Strength Training: Focus on compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and pull-ups. These exercises work on multiple muscle groups, helping build a balanced physique.
  3. Core Workouts: Exercises like planks, sit-ups, and Russian twists strengthen the core, improving posture and contributing to a trim waistline.
  4. Shoulder and Back Exercises: Broad shoulders are often seen as a sign of strength. Incorporate exercises like shoulder presses, lateral raises, and rows.
  5. Flexibility and Mobility Work: Yoga or stretching routines can improve posture and body alignment, making movements smoother and more graceful.

General Tips

  • Consistency: Regular exercise and gradually increasing intensity will yield better results.
  • Balanced Diet: Nutrition plays a crucial role in muscle building and fat loss. A healthy, balanced diet supports exercise efforts.
  • Hydration and Sleep: Adequate water intake and sleep are essential for recovery and overall well-being.
  • Skin Care: A clear, healthy complexion can enhance attractiveness, so a basic skin care routine can also be beneficial.

Remember, attractiveness goes beyond physical appearance. Confidence, kindness, and a positive attitude are universally appealing traits. Exercise can also improve mental health and self-esteem, contributing to overall attractiveness.
