How to deal with stress?

What is stress?

pressure or tension exerted on a material object.
a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.

Stress can be good or bad but it mainly depends on how you deal with it.

Stress can enhance your performance and focus your mind to the most important.

Look at how diamonds are made:

Diamonds are formed deep within the Earth about 100 miles or so below the surface in the upper mantle. … There’s a lot of pressure, the weight of the overlying rock bearing down, so that combination of high temperature and high pressure is what’s necessary to grow diamond crystals in the Earth.

You need challenges and difficulty and stress in order to improve. As you become more successful you get bigger problems, more stress and bigger challenges. Things don’t get easier, you just get better.

So learning to manage greater levels of stress is important.

Not all stress is good for you, it is a signal that there is a problem, and if you have too much stress that you don’t deal with then your performance can deteriorate so it is important to know the difference.

One of the most important ways is how you think about it. Are you overwhelmed? Or are you cool and calm?

It is important to manage yourself and your mindset to perform at your best.

Personally I handle stress by:
– Focusing on the basics: food, sleep, body, social relationships – and making sure these are all in order.
– Meditating
– Sports
– Removing distractions
– Taking a step back
– Asking for help
– Social support
– Writing is also lethargic, or sharing your problems or challenges or sources of stress.

Remove sources of stress
– What are the sources of stress? Work to identify and then eliminate them.

Oh yeah, and its important to stop doing these (or any channeling of energy into something that is not productive or solving the source of stress)
– Checking phone / social media
– Checking the news
– Wasting time or any destructive behaviour

Sometimes when I am experiencing stress I do resort to drinking more coffee and working late. Sometimes it’s helpful in improving productivity. Sometimes it is better to take a step back and look at it from another angle. I found that having some time to stop and think, and writing down my thought processes and goals, and strategies and key issues has been helpful.

The best way to deal with it is to remove the sources of stress and do more exercise
