Publishing consistent content is important. I will invest much more time into this because it can bring huge benefits.
I think mindset is an incredibly important part of growing on social media.
Currently I have some kind of fear of publishing. I know what will generate attention, and I don’t want to, in some way. It’s only when you really feel the deep urge to influence or make something known that you post, a deep hunger or anger at not achieving something.
I use that fear to drive me to make sure I’m only posting the highest quality content.
There are many social media platforms.
Here I will rank them by those, and the strategies I think are most effective to grow.
- YoutubeI think on Youtube this is similar to the blog. I do think Youtube is one of the most powerful of the platforms. It’s such a strong education platform. In order to succeed on Youtube I need to make more content, and have a great editor who can do it. I would like to do much more of this, to have interviews, and film more interesting videos. I can also experiment with different types.
- Blog – this. richcoward.comFor me the blog is the easiest platform to create content for. I have many posts and I can share my ideas and can just post about it. I have many ideas and can constantly come up with ideas. I just write about things I want to know and I’m learning about and I just keep posting. I can write 3-4 articles per day in 1 hour or so. It’s growing steadily right now. I’ve had a couple people who want to book calls with me to discuss more about the articles I’ve posted. The main benefit is that I can develop my ideas, and learn about them. It also gives me material I can use on the other platforms. I would like to use this as the main platform to create content. I’ve not really looked at what content does well and doing more of that. I should probably spend some more time on that if I want to grow it. This is the platform I most enjoy as I feel that I can really be myself.
- Linkedin – https://www.linkedin.com/in/richcoward/This is a powerful platform to create content on. It seems that high level articles and personal stories do the best on this platform. Especially content that makes people click “see more” and then leave a comment or interact with it. Posting daily, or regularly on it is important. I really should be doing that.
- PodcastPodcasts is one of the most powerful of platforms right now. I think there is a huge opportunity on podcasts because there are not many podcasts, and the income per podcast listener is quite high. I love listening to podcasts. I created a podcast called 2030 School, but the content was a bit mixed up with motivational content. I didn’t like it. I do think I can be quite good at podcasts. It’s quite an easy platform to make content for, can just record voice notes onto a computer. It’s also nice to have interviews with people who want to be on podcasts too.
I do think that there are two options:
1) To create my own personal podcast. I don’t think it would be that popular because nobody will discover it.
2) I think 2030 School is a great podcast name. I think it’s an interesting topic, to talk about learning. But I think it needs to have a comprehensive strategy.I really want to do something with online education in the future. I’m confused about this topic and need to spend more time on it.
I think I should just create one podcast, because otherwise I would do two of them badly. I think the 2030 School podcast is a much better name, and all the top podcasts in the world are brand or show names like this. People can also search my name there too. It’s better because people don’t know or care about me yet, but I can interview people and talk about education which covers everything I’m learning about and my journey too. I can then experiment with content that does well and make it really good. Creating the podcast.
So I will revive 2030 School and make the content quality much better. Experimenting with it and creating content.
I will also republish content on this from Youtube which is a fairly easy way too. Overall though, I expect to have more content on the podcast than Youtube.
I can also read out blog articles that I have. So it’s kind of exploratory too, a way for me to learn.
One thing I need to consider is if we are going to post my content or interviews. I think it can be both. In the future we can have a separate channel in the future.
SECONDARY PLATFORMS
I consider the following to be secondary platforms that I won’t dedicate much time on. I think that understanding the other platforms is important because platforms are always changing and I can learn things from those that can be applied to the other platforms. Also its possible that these platforms can become primary platforms in the future. I also think that as I grow, then I could invest more resources into other platforms.
- Twitter & Instagram & TikTokI think these two platforms are very powerful platforms that I can post content on from the other longer form content. I do think they are kind of saturated and hard to grow in at the moment. Of course there are ways to grow but I think it’s better to use the content that I make from other platforms, and direct the attention there too.
I know that twitter works well with threads, short form articles, and engaging with other people.
Instagram works well by posting lifestyle content, and shorts. - Chinese platformsI do find Wechat and XiaohongShu to be powerful platforms. I think I can post content from and updates on wechat in English from the other platforms.
Xiaohongshu would work by creating videos in Chinese, which would be fun to do, and learn about. Otherwise I can repost stuff from the other platofrms.
I will study Xiaohongshu more and see what works well there.
- How much time it needs per week? One of the problems is that it seems to take a lot of time to make.
So I will allocate time each week in the following order. I will cross the time off
Articles – 3 hours per week
Podcasts – 3 hours per week
Youtube – 4 hours per week
Linkedin – 4 hours per week
Learning – 3 hours – I will also explore other platformsI will spend time on weekends doing it.
I will then schedule content to go out at later times. In the future:
Twitter – 3 hours
Instagram – 3 hours
Xiaohongshu – 3 hoursย (one preparing, one writing)With a team:
In the future I will make sure I have a great video editor, and have someone to help to make shorts and helping to schedule content.
