It’s not the task that makes it difficult, it’s your reaction to it. Being able to effortlessly carry out the work that needs to be done in a non-emotional, effortless way is a superpower.
Stress serves a purpose and that is to protect you, and to enhance your performance. It is useful to learn from it and improve. Experiencing stress is a great opportunity to learn and grow.
At the same time, being emotional can be quite tiring. It can drain and waste your energy if it’s not dealt with.
Often it is a result of anxiety. Thinking of a worse case future outcome.
Often these kind of stressful situations is something that holds people back. Our natural state is to grow and increase our income. But it doesn’t happen linearly, it happens in big leaps, and plateaus. Often stressful situations is the ceiling of your current mindset limitation.
Go towards it.
1) Identify the emotion. Label it. Describe it
2) What is the thought pattern that you are having that is making you feel stress? Are you anxious? Anticipating negative outcomes?
3) What triggered it?
4) What can we learn from it? What is the purpose of this emotion? How is it helping?
5) Meditate, exercise, relationships, can all help to manage emotions.
6) Does it make sense? Reframe the emotion.
7) Being grateful of the current state, and of the past, is one way to overcome it. That is the opposite of it.
8) Review goals and visualise positive outcomes
9) What would it look like if it were easy?
10) Reward yourself for overcoming it in some small way. Celebrate overcoming something within yourself. Have a pizza, or something.
