How should teachers be compensated in the age of AI?

One of the problems with assigning teacher compensation is that it is very difficult to capture their true value. One great teacher spending thousands of hours on a student, might not be realised for a lifetime, and there is no efficient mechanism for capturing that value. As a result, I believe, teaching is generally underpaid compared the value that it gives. This is a problem because the role of teachers is extremely important.

With the development of AI this becomes even more important to consider.

What can we learn from leading tech companies such as Amazon and Tesla about compensation and working hours that can be applied to teaching.

This is a really important question for society to consider

We need to consider the culture we are developing

How important are teachers?

How to incentivise and reward teachers for the long term benefit that they give?

How to incentivise teachers to take actions that are aligned to the long term outcome?

They need to receive shares or be owners of the platform or institution in some way.

Which raises another interesting about what can we learn from tech companies to make our society ownership, reward structure better.

One model, could be some kind of super efficient frictionless way to receive a share of their students future income, which is paid as a form of tax, or as a student loan repayment, but only if there was a measurable way that we could measure the value that teacher gave that student.
