One of the keys to doing amazing work is to manage your mindset. If you, and your mind are operating at an incredible level, then the output and your work is also much more likely to be incredible. If you want to lead, and manage others, you first need to lead and manage yourself.
As Paulo Coelho wrote: โIf you conquer yourself, then you will conquer the world.โ
My experiences
Sometimes I have been working too hard and doing too much work that I have neglected to look after myself by spending too many hours, and generally trying too hard to make things happen that might be unrealistic. This results in me being burnt out, being a bit less productive, then drinking coffee or trying to work harder to compensate it and then going back to focus on the fundamentals. It’s counterproductive and its much better to just ease off a bit and relax and go step by step.
Recently my granddad died and I’ve been trying to get a flight back to UK to visit familyย and there is not much clarity about when borders will open. It’s been 2 years since last being in UK and I miss family and UK.
It’s made me want to work harder to achieve more so I can build a more global platform.
We all have our struggles, and they are there for a reason. There are always opportunities to come from challenges, and I’m grateful to have such huge opportunities and to see how I can take advantage of them.
So how do you get yourself into the best mental state?ย
It starts with going down to the fundamentals:
– Sleep, food, and
– Meditation
– Rest
– Exercise
Also being around high performing people, and I’m also reading and learning from high performing people by reading their biographies. There are so many amazing lessons that we can learn from other peoples stories and there are recurring patterns that have happened throughout history.
I’m also doing a detox of phones, social media and planning to time block my time more. With more focus going on meditation, gym, creating content, and building the team to manage and growing China Admissions.
