How can we merge with AI to become superhuman?

First, let’s start with some definitions

What is intelligence? 

Intelligence is a very general mental capability that, among other things, involves the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend. complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience.

Intelligence has been defined in many ways: higher level abilities (such as abstract reasoning, mental representation, problem solving, and decision making), the ability to learn, emotional knowledge, creativity, and adaptation to meet the demands of the environment effectively

What is the definition of artificial?

made or produced by human beings rather than occurring naturally, especially as a copy of something natural.

having or showing exceptional ability or powers.

The Question

So the question “How can we merge with AI to become superhuman?” think is too narrow because artificial intelligence is just one tool we can use, there are also other things we can do to become smarter, for example by editing our own biological code, so I think the question should be rephrased to say:

“How can we (use technology to) make ourselves smarter?” This is a really important topic for our future.

As technology develops faster and faster it poses a load of questions
– Will AI develop into something that is more advanced than humans that goes on to dominate or threaten us? (How can we know?)
– Are humans in 2021 just a springboard for another life form that is more advanced? (How can we know?)
– Will some humans use technology to become more intelligent? and will that give them an advantage over other humans? (This is already happening)

I think the last question about how we can use technology to become more intelligent is the most important question because it is already happening. We are already using  phones, computer technology and tools to make ourselves more efficient and some people can afford it while others can’t, it is already a huge advantage comparing developed and developing countries, and its highly likely that our technology and understanding of ourselves is going to keep accelerating in the future and there is going to be a gap between the elite and others.

It is highly likely in the future that there is going to be an elite class of people who can do things better, faster, and more efficient, and use technology much better than others. This can cause huge social change.

There have always been an elite class who has power, or who has access to technology that others don’t, so it would be interesting to explore how this would be different.

So back to the question – how can we use technology to become smarter?

So there are two ways we can understand that question, and I think both need to be explored. The first – 1) we need to understand ourselves, understand our biology, genetic code, how the brain works, and what we are, and then 2) we need to understand what technology we can use to enhance it. Those are super big questions and areas that we don’t know very much about and are still learning about.

I think the first one about our own biology is more important because we need to understand ourselves before we can think about how to enhance it.

1) Biology – We still don’t know very much about how the body works, and we are still trying to learn about genetic code. – So some questions we can ask to help us are:
– How does our genetic code work?

2) What technology can we use?
– We can edit our own biology
– How can we incorporate technology into our biology?
– What are the best human / technology interfaces that we can use?

– I also think there are loads of interesting questions and topics that we can learn from how our biology works, and what we can learn from that, maybe that can improve our understanding of machines and give us loads of ideas. Maybe we can create combined artificial, technologically advanced living organisms? How does technology and biology combine brings a load of really interesting questions to be explored soon.
