I have been researching this topic because I have been drinking a lot of coffee while working. Unfortunately when I don’t drink coffee, I feel slow and unproductive. It may take some time for my levels to go to baseline. While when I drink coffee I feel much more productive.
The problem:
We are social creatures, and we were wired for a much different environment than we have now.
Life was hard then.
Yet now, in the digital world, we have it too easy.
Or at least we think we do.
We can get massive social rewards from a computer screen when we look through social media or watch interviews that seeks to satisfy our urge for connection.
But we need to differentiate between what is real and what is not.
We need to appreciate the values of doing hard stuff and being free from it.
But the main point is that we have to learn to be conscious of ourselves, and not let our brain takeover so we do actions that are against our interest.
We have to be conscious and take consccious decisions and create the kind of person we want to be.
We have to:
– Decide what we want in the future (and review it often)
– Understand what actions are in our interests
– Realise when it’s not in our interests
